Went to Wireless Hill Park to check out the location. There are some great views and beautiful native flora.
Took some photos with the new camera (Canon 6D Mark II) of the anchor blocks and main site. The time was around midday, so the light was pretty harsh. I’ll definitely need to pickup a polarising filter for the lens.
These anchor blocks weigh in at 200 ton each. They were designed to support a 120m steel radio mast that previously existed at the site. The site, originally called Applecross Wireless Station, opened in 1912 with the mast being pulled down in 1962.
Now the anchor blocks and site buildings are listed on the Western Australian Register of Heritage Places.
