no, but really -- if i were stranded on a desert island, would i build spears and lean-toos and whatnot, or sit around hopefully watching for a rescue plane? well, logically, you can and should do both -- the rescue plane will or will not arrive regardless of whether or not you're hammering away at your coconut rocketship or only sitting sadly on the beach.

but in reality, i would probably excuse my own laziness by saying "oh, there's no point in building shelter and hunting for wild pigs -- a rescue plane is sure to come". then i'd die, and it wouldn't matter anyway.
